Our version of a Student Hub in Dundee will provide affordable, highly nutritious meals, social connection, and wellbeing support for students facing financial hardship and where needed support for trauma related experiences either by sign posting or by immediate crises support to relevant services –
Our team is currently led by experienced mature volunteers – including a qualified social worker, a pervious community worker and community kitchen provider, and a qualified counsellor.
Dundee has some of the highest levels of deprivation in Scotland, and both universities report sustained demand for hardship support. A subsidised food hub directly addresses food insecurity, poor diet quality, and social isolation—issues now recognised at UK policy level.
Our hub provision is the result of student stories heard over the last two years by one of our core team members a paid student mentor who has been working across two of Dundee’s Universities and St Andrews University from 2025- 2026. Directly supporting students with additional challenges that impact on their wellbeing and ability to navigate university life well.
A strong emphasis of the hub is the recognition that poor diet just exacerbates any underly mental health conditions and physical health conditions.
